Getting Started with EMS

This section provides an introduction to the Expert Management System (EMS), 2026 release version, and helps you understand what you can do as a user when you first access the platform.

EMS is designed to give you greater autonomy to manage your personal information, access settings, and activities related to your IEC roles.

Using EMS during the transition period

During the transition to the new Expert Management System (EMS), users may temporarily interact with both the new Expert Area and the old EMS.

This approach ensures continuity and allows users to complete their activities without disruption.

What to expect

  • All user self-management features are available in the new EMS

  • Some users administration actions or information may still be handled in the previous EMS during the transition by NC Admin

  • When needed, users can redirect between systems

This dual navigation is temporary and supports a smooth and progressive transition.

EMS Functional Areas

EMS provides several modules accessible depending on user roles:

User functionalities

Administrative functionalities (NC Administrators)

  • NC User Management

  • Committee role assignment

EMS Landing Page

After logging into EMS, users arrive at the Landing Page.

The landing page provides quick access to key EMS features and personal activities.

Typical sections include:

  • My Profile

  • My Activities

  • NC User Management (for administrators)

  • Global Search

  • Statistics

Accessing EMS

To start using EMS, log in with your IEC Login.
After login, you will arrive on the EMS landing page.

On this page, you will find:

  • Key EMS Features, including quick access to:

    • Global Search

    • My Profile

  • My Activities, where you can see:

    • meetings you are registered for

    • meetings open for registration (if applicable)

    • your IEC Academy Online Learning platform courses

EMS pages are organized to help you quickly find the information you need.

  • Use the main navigation tabs at the top of the screen to move between sections

  • Scroll through pages using your mouse, trackpad, or the scrollbar

  • Long pages include a clear structure to support easy navigation

Finding information quickly

Page structure and outline

On EMS application pages, an outline is available to help you navigate between sections.

  • The outline displays the page structure

  • You can click on a section title to jump directly to it

  • This is especially useful on longer guidance pages

Managing your profile and access

EMS allows you to manage much of your own account information.

As a user, you can:

  • View and update your personal profile (where fields are editable)

  • Change your password via the IEC Account Portal

  • Update your authentication method (MFA) via the Account Portal

  • View your assigned roles and permissions.

Some fields are intentionally read-only to ensure data consistency across IEC systems.

From EMS, you can also access information related to two types of activity:

  • Meetings

    • View meetings you are registered for

    • Access meetings open for registration

    • You may be redirected to the IEC Meeting Registration System (MRS) when required

  • Training

    • View your IEC Academy Online Learning Platform courses

    • Browse available courses if none are currently assigned
